Robot Voices is actually a cover of a track written by the band Orpheus, recorded for a split demo where several NJ bands were going to cover each other's songs. The demo never was released, but the cover of Robot Voices became a staple of the Dubbed In English's live set from then on, and whenever Bob from Orpheus was around (which was often), he came onstage to sing his part along with Steve, as it was done on the recording.
This happy accident worked out because when the band did the song originally, Steve wasn't too familiar with the original vocal track and ended up making up his own melody. It was so different from Bob's that the parts ended up complementing each other.
TJ eventually weaseled his way into Orpheus and ended his tenure with that band a few years later.
