Red was the first song written completely by the "Plan 9" lineup featuring Lou on drums. In fact, there's no bass in this recording as Jeff hadn't rejoined the band when this was recorded. The main verse/chorus riff of the song was Lou's idea. The band slowed it down and Dino took an older previously discarded song idea of TJ's and rearranged it into the instrumental coda. The lyrics were written by Steve.
